As befits a versatile everyday knife, the Kershaw Covalent uses as universal a blade profile as possible - in this case a drop point, providing excellent cutting characteristics. The blade is made from high-carbon D2 steel, combining exceptionally high resistance to dulling with good rust resistance. However, to further increase corrosion resistance, the entire surface is coated with a BlackWash finish, protecting against scratches and corrosion. Mounting the blade on a ball bearing system noticeably increases opening speed and smoothness. The sandblasted finish hides scratches and gives the knife a modern feel.
Kershaw Covalent folding knife - a versatile everyday knife
A textured flipper is provided for opening the knife, allowing comfortable operation with either hand. Once opened, the blade is locked using Kershaw's new solution - the DuraLock mechanism. This omega spring-based system ensures highly effective safety along with convenient release from either side. Access to the lock is positioned conveniently for the thumb. The knife's handle is finished with sturdy glass-fiber-reinforced nylon with a pronounced texture. The exceptionally deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried as discreetly as possible, below the pocket line.
