Lesovik GROZA - versatile hiking tarp
The GROZA UL tarp has no equal among full-size tarps, as it weighs only 540 g - about 60% less than standard camping tarps. GROZA creates a lightweight, durable and easy-to-use hiking shelter with enough room for 2-3 travelers. The tarp can be instantly set up in several ways, creating a shelter from sun and rain, an ultra-light tent, a partition, or even a tipi-style shelter. Thanks to its muted color palette, the GROZA tarp blends easily into the forest environment, so overnight stays don't attract attention. The GROZA's dimensions of 3 x 3 m provide enough room to camp, rest and sleep even for several people. Under the tarp you can shelter from the weather, repack your backpack, prepare food and sleep peacefully. The 9 m² area is enough for a standard hammock to easily fit underneath, protected from nighttime precipitation.
Durable materials
For the GROZA construction we used silnylon fabric in a micro ripstop weave, with a water resistance of up to 6000 mm H₂O. According to the manufacturer, this standard is twice as high as current market standards. The fabric is also resistant to wind and mechanical damage. The fabric's strength comes from the aforementioned micro ripstop weave, which protects the material from tearing in case of a puncture. The attachment elements are laser-cut from Hypalon (a rubber and nylon laminate) and are designed to use trekking poles as a frame. 19 guy line attachment points make it easy to precisely protect against weather conditions and allow the tarp to be used freely in various configurations, including a two-sided shelter, one-sided shelter, "diamond" shape, lean-to and closed hammock tent. In addition, by raising one side on trekking poles, you can create a spacious shelter. By connecting several GROZA tarps, you can set up an outdoor pavilion for several people.
To increase durability, the guy line attachments are made from laser-cut Hypalon - a rubber and nylon laminate used, among other things, in the production of military equipment and mountain pontoons. In the new version of the tarp, the polyamide strip sewn to the ridge has been removed and replaced with a triple-reinforced seam. This not only reduced the weight of the tarp but also improved its functionality, as it allows the tarp to be tensioned more easily and evenly.
Lesovik GROZA tarp - easy setup
Easy tarp setup is ensured by an integrated cord tensioning mechanism. The hanging system is simple and easy to operate with one hand, and there's no need to know how to tie knots. Simply attach the cord to the ground and tension it. The cord tensioner automatically locks the cord and prevents it from loosening. The rear guy lines have mini hooks, so the tarp can be attached to trees without knots. Setting up the tarp requires 4 stakes (not included).
Most popular ways to pitch the tarp
Setting up the tarp according to the situation
Summer - warm, mild, no precipitation
In this case, it's worth hanging the tarp high to increase the distance from the hammock and ensure better air circulation. Attach the guy lines widely so as not to obstruct incoming air. The tarp will mainly protect against falling leaves, needles or bits of tree bark.
Autumn - windy conditions, possible precipitation
In these conditions, hang the tarp lower, closer to the hammock. Attach the guy lines widely so the wind slides over the tarp and doesn't press too hard on its sides.
Spring - no wind, possible snow
Hang the tarp at the usual height, but attach the guy lines closer in so the sides of the tarp form a somewhat steeper shelter - this way less snow will remain on the tarp and it will be much less burdened.
Mountain hikes / sudden weather change
In this case, pitch the tarp in a tent shape using trekking poles. Attach the guy lines on one side directly to the ground - this will reduce the negative effect of rain combined with wind.
