Benchmade 391SBK SOCP is a large tactical folder, intended for uniformed services and people looking for a reliable edc tool.
The knife was designed by Greg Thompson, creator of S.O.C.P., a combat system used by US Army special forces.
A versatile blade
The slender blade with a symmetrical spear-point profile is covered with a layer of black Teflon, which protects against corrosion, minor scratches and emphasizes the tactical nature of the knife. To increase the functionality of the knife, the rear part of the cutting edge is serrated.
The combo blade is especially useful when cutting hard and fibrous materials such as belts, ropes and tapes.
Due to the use of a strong point, a very gentle curvature of the edge and a flat grinding, the blade cuts very smoothly and efficiently, and it does not tend to wedge in the material.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Hard tool steel D2
The 113 mm long blade is made of hard and durable D2 tool steel hardened to 60-62 HRC. D2 is the most corrosion-resistant carbon steel, which is characterized by high abrasion resistance, long maintenance of working sharpness and aggressive cutting.
When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, because sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and ineffective.
Convenient unfolding
The blade is unfolded using a symmetrical disc located on the back of the blade, allowing the knife to be operated by right and left-handed people. The size of the disc and its convenient location allow the blade to be unfolded with gloves.
Safety during work
The knife uses the flagship Benchmade lock, i.e. the Axis-lock mechanism, valued for its great resistance to dynamic loads, resistance to dirt and ease of use. The strength and stiffness of the knife structure are ensured by full steel liners of increased thickness.
Light and durable linings
The knife has profiled cladding made of a special CF-Elite material (carbon fiber reinforced nylon), which is much lighter and stiffer than, for example, G10 laminate. The finger cut and deep cutters on the facings ensure a stable grip of the knife and effectively accentuate the tactical nature of the knife.
Discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket allows a high-mounted clip that can be moved to the other side.
