The Lightyear 1395 belongs to the budget Kershaw Starter Series, which is distinguished by its modern design, good quality materials and affordable prices.
Proven steel
The 79mm long blade is made of sturdy 4Cr14 steel hardened to 55-57 HRC. This Chinese stainless steel is characterized by high corrosion resistance, relatively short-lived sharpness, but this is perfectly compensated by the ease and speed of sharpening.
Such properties of the steel make the Kershaw Lightyear 1395intended for less demanding users and people who are new to outdoor and edc equipment.
Functional blade
Theslim blade with a symmetrical spear-point profile has a matte stonewashed (abrasive stone bath)finish, which effectively masks minor scratches or abrasions to the blade from use.
Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, concave grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, the knife has good cutting and penetrating properties, and the blade does not wedge in the material being cut.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.7 mm, which is a compromise between the strength and functionality of the knife in everyday work. Transverse milling cutters made on the back of the blade allow stable support of the fingers during work.
The knife's design includes custom touches in the form of a pivot with an original design and a backspacer protruding from the handle with a line attachment.
Convenient handling
The blade is unfolded with one hand using a milled flipper, a solution convenient for both right- and left-handed users. This convenient method of opening the blade makes the use of the knife extremely convenient and easy.
Assist mechanism for unfolding the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism. When the flipper flipper is pressed, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Robust locking mechanism

Ergonomic liners
The knife's handle is formed by liners made of lightweight and durable fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). The ergonomic shape of the grip and texturing makes the knife fit securely in the hand and is very comfortable to use.
