Lansky LKNAT is a professional sharpening system, consisting of 3 natural Arkansas stones with different gradation, clamp and guides, allowing you to choose the right angle and maintain full control over the sharpening process.
Lansky sharpening systems are widely recognized as one of the best and relatively cheapest professional sharpeners in the world.
On the basis of many years of experience, Lansky has created an extremely simple and efficient system that allows you to select the sharpening angle depending on the type and purpose of the knife, to fix the blade in a stable position and to perform very precise grinding with a constant angle.
In contrast to the classic "hand sharpening" that requires skill and experience, the system allows you to maintain proper angle control, thanks to which we can be sure that the sharpening will be carried out correctly.
The effect of such sharpening is easy to predict, the cutting edge is perfectly sharp and cuts much longer.
Ease of use, great efficiency and effectiveness of Lansa systems mean that our knives can always be "razor sharp" without the need to purchase several different sharpeners.
Construction and operation
The system consists of a clamp, metal guides and grinding stones. The T-shaped aluminum clamp is used to firmly fix the knife, preventing it from moving during grinding.
After embedding the knife in the clamp jaws (using screws), connect the guide with the grinding stone, then select the angle that best suits the type and purpose of the knife.
Adjustment of the sharpening angle is made in a simple way - by placing the guide in the cutouts with factory-defined angles: 17 °, 20 °, 25 ° and 30 °.
The clamp has a double-sided construction, so to sharpen the other side of the blade, you just need to turn the clamp and move the guide with the stone, without having to disassemble the knife.
Sharpening angles
The clamp has 4 sharpening angles designed for various types of knives:
- 17 ° - filleting knives, kitchen knives, precision cutting tools,
- 20 ° - kitchen knives, pocket knives, small edc folders,
- 25 ° - large EDC folders, hunting and outdoor knives,
- 30 ° - survival knives, hard work tools
Stones
The Lansky LKNAT set includes 3 natural Arkansas stones to carry out all major repair, sharpening and deburring operations.
Arkansas stone from North America is characterized by very fine grains, high hardness and density, which makes it a valued raw material for knife whetstones.
Sharpening on Arkansas stone is slower and time consuming, but the cutting edge is smoother and stays sharp for much longer.
Lansky Soft Stone S0300 with a gradation of 200-350 is used to repair the blade and bring out a new cutting edge.
Lansky Hard Stone Arkansas S0650 with gradation 650 is used to sharpen slightly dull cutting edges, give the working sharpness and pre-polishing the edges.
Lansky Black Hard Arkansas SOBHA with gradation 1200-1400 is used for final smoothing and polishing of the blade, allowing for the sharpness of the proverbial razor.
The set also includes Lansky Nathans Honing Oil, which increases the quality and effect of sharpening. The stones covered with a few drops of oil during sharpening retain adequate moisture, which extends their life and facilitates professional sharpening.
In addition, it is worth buying the Lansky Eraser Block LERAS cleaning block, which allows you to easily and quickly remove steel coating from ceramic stones, which was deposited during sharpening.
If we want to increase the stability and comfort of sharpening, it is also worth considering the purchase of the LM010 vice, used to attach the system to a table or table top.
Carrying the elements of the Lansky LKNAT set is facilitated by a closed polymer box.
