Description

The Portuguese knife manufacturer MAM was founded in 1870 by Manuel Antonio Martins. His work in the company is now continued by the 5th generation of the family. It is therefore a family business with a strong link to tradition. Production is carried out directly in Portugal and still includes a high proportion of handmade products. The quality of MAM knives is underlined by the fact that the manufacturer offers a 10-year warranty on its products. The individual production processes and some design solutions are protected by patents. Unique is, for example, the locking mechanism of the closing knives, which is very functional and reliable. The steel for the production of the knives comes from Germany. In order to achieve the best possible properties, it also contains elements such as silicon, carbon, molybdenum and vanadium. Its hardness is 57-59 degrees on the Rockwell scale. The wooden handle of the closing knives gives the user a specific feeling in the hand that is completely different from knives with a plastic handle. Most often beech is used for production. However, the more exotic bubinga with its dark brown to red colour is also very popular and smooth olive is also available.
